Free Children's Books- Imagination Library

The Trust Fund would like to share with you information provided by OFC Deputy Director Jeff Van Deusen regarding the free children’s books program provided by The Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library:

“I want to make you aware of a FREE opportunity for our children birth to age five to receive a free book, once a month. First Lady Fran DeWine has partnered with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a book gifting program that mails one age-appropriate book each month to all children under the age of five at no cost to the family. To bring this program to every county and ensure every child in Ohio receives their free book each month, First Lady Fran DeWine partnered with the Ohio legislature in 2019.

The books chosen by Dolly’s Imagination Library are very high quality. Books are age appropriate and come with reading tips for parents on the inside cover. Here is the 2021 book list: https://imaginationlibrary.com/usa/book-list/.

While the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library has been in Ohio since 2019, unfortunately, many caregivers are unaware the program exists. That is why I am asking you to please encourage your caregivers to enroll children ages birth to five years today! A child enrolled at birth will begin kindergarten with 60 high quality books at no cost. We want all Ohio children to receive the benefit of the Imagination Library.

I understand some agencies are already participating and working with their caregivers to ensure all children are signed up to receive their monthly books. For those who are not, we encourage you to take advantage of this great resource. To enroll, caregivers can visit https://ohioimaginationlibrary.org/ to enroll today! A child’s first name and last initial, birth date, and the address to send the book to are all that is needed to start getting books in the mail. Attached you will find a flyer with more information.”
