Behavior Support Part 1: Safety, Non-Escalation/De-Escalation Techniques, & Trauma Informed Care   Friday, December 11   9:30 AM - 1:30 PM  This class is Session 1 of the Academy’s Behavior Support training program, but can be taken as a stand-alone training. This session explores: ·    Safe and healthy relationships, and the four domains of safety: physical, psychological, social and moral ·    Tips for de-escalation, the three de-escalation 'checks' and the necessity of dealing with both facts and feelings to help a person resolve their escalation ·    The importance of debriefing following an escalation will be discussed including tips for doing so effectively ·    Trauma and resilience, a trauma informed approach to supporting others ·    Trauma symptoms, the Hand Brain, factors that influence resiliency ·    The healing power of healthy relationships, belonging, voice, choice and control   Ohio Social Work and Ohio DODD Continuing Education approved for 7 hours.   Click below for details and registration.

Behavior Support Part 2: Communication and Crisis Intervention     Friday, December 18   9:30 AM - 1:30 PM  This class is Session 2 of the Academy’s Behavior Support training program, but can be taken as a stand-alone training. This session explores: ·    Verbal and nonverbal forms of communication, the purposes of communication, the causes of communication breakdown, and methods to avoid breakdown ·    The 4 personality styles and the traits and strengths associated with each style, as well as potential negative behaviors of these styles when under stress ·    Tools to enhance communication, listening and relating to others  ·    Conflict, anger and the crisis cycle as well, including: conflict, the 5 major types of conflict ·    Conflict cycle; anger, how anger is actually good for us, why we get mad ·    A walk through the crisis cycle, taking a closer look at each phase in the cycle.      Ohio Social Work and Ohio DODD Continuing Education approved for 7 hours.   Click below for details and registration.
