I've Received the Covid-19 Vaccine- What Can I Do?

As vaccination counts rise, CDC releases interim safety guidance for fully vaccinated Americans

This month, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released updated safety guidance for fully vaccinated people. The guidelines outline the activities and behaviors that are safer for people to engage in after receiving their vaccine and those that remain high-risk. A person is considered to be fully vaccinated two weeks after their final dose of the vaccine (or their single dose, in the case of Johnson & Johnson).

County boards' educational materials geared toward fully vaccinated people should reinforce the points made in this guidance. SSAs helping people make plans to return to in-person activities after being vaccinated are advised to use these as guidelines only—the CDC and Ohio Department of Health continue to urge caution with in-person interactions.
Fully Vaccinated People Can Do the Following Safely:
  • Visit with other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing;
  • Visit with unvaccinated people from a single household who are at low risk for severe COVID-19 disease indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing; and
  • Refrain from quarantine and testing following a known exposure if asymptomatic.
Fully Vaccinated Should Continue the Following Precautions:
  • Wear a mask and physically distance from others in public and when visiting unvaccinated people or spending time inside;
  • Avoid medium and large in-person gatherings;
  • Get tested if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms; and
  • Follow guidance issued by individual employers as well as local, state, and federal health safety requirements.
