Through the Eyes of Parents: Supporting the Emotional Well Being of Families from Diagnosis Through Transition

Thursday, April 14, 2022 (12:00 - 1:15 p.m.)

Join parents Amanda DeLuca and Kate Swenson as they reflect back on their journey through an autism diagnosis, early intervention, and transition to school services, and the emotional toll these processes can take on a family. In this session, they will discuss what coming to terms with a diagnosis looks like and the support they need from professionals, family members, and those within their community to help their family adjust to this new chapter of life. The cost to attend is $25 for county board staff, and free for parents/family members. CPDUs for county board staff will be available through DODD (EI) and OACB (SSA). See links below.

Presenters: Amanda DeLuca, Co-Founder, More than a Caregiver, Studio Director - Amanda’s Academy of Dance, Master IEP Coach; Kate Swenson, Co-Founder, More than a Caregiver, Author of Finding Cooper’s Voice and Forever Boy. This is an encore presentation from the December convention.

CB staff and EI providers must register via MemberConnect to earn CPDUs.

Parents and families may link straight to the zoom session on April 14.

This is a remote session that will take place via Zoom. Meeting details will be emailed directly to registrants that sign up via MemberConnect. All county board staff and EI participants must register independently and attend the session live in order to be marked present and receive applicable CPDUs.
