Reflecting on 2023: Remarkable Strides for Ohioans with Disabilities

2023 Year in Review

As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have been part of our journey in empowering Ohioans with disabilities. Since our inception in 1970, we have seen remarkable successes, and this past year has been no exception.

Throughout 2023, our Bureaus of Vocational Rehabilitation and Services for the Visually Impaired, Division of Disability Determination, and all support areas have celebrated remarkable accomplishments achieved by Ohioans with disabilities.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted’s budget for Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) for Fiscal Years 2024 and 2025 reinforces their commitment to making Ohio a Disability Inclusion State and Model Employer of Individuals with Disabilities. This historic investment is helping us to positively impact the lives of Ohioans with disabilities like never before, helping even more Ohioans with disabilities get and keep a job. The budget also funds Accessible Ohio, an initiative supporting Ohio’s businesses, communities, venues, and attractions in becoming more accessible and inclusive for individuals with disabilities.

To commemorate the successes and milestones of 2023, I invite you to watch our "Year in Review" video. Your unwavering support and dedication have made all of this possible, and we look forward to continuing this journey with you in 2024.

From all of us here at OOD, warmest wishes for a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year ahead.

Warm regards,

Kevin L. Miller, OOD Director
