Curtis Mayfield (1942-1999) was an influential singer, songwriter, and social advocate who made a lasting impact on the world of music and beyond. Known for his soulful voice and meaningful lyrics, Mayfield played a key role in shaping R&B and soul music. His life took an unexpected turn when a stage accident left him with a spinal cord injury. Instead of giving in to challenges, Mayfield turned his own experience into a powerful platform for advocacy. He became a strong voice, speaking up for the rights and well-being of people facing similar injuries.
