Cultivating Ohio’s Future Leaders at the 2024 Youth Leadership Forums

Youth Leadership Forum participants in a room with a play button.

Every year, OOD partners with the Ohio Statewide Independent Living Council and Centers for Independent Living across Ohio to host summer Youth Leadership Forums for high school students with disabilities interested in becoming Ohio’s future leaders.

Five of Ohio’s regional Centers for Independent Living hosted these week-long events during June, July, and August to help local students advance their leadership, citizenship, and social skills.

  • Southeastern Ohio Center for Independent Living in Lancaster June 10–14
  • The Center for Disability Empowerment in Westerville June 17–21
  • Linking Employment, Abilities and Potential (LEAP) in Cleveland June 25–28
  • The Access Center in Dayton July 22–26
  • Tri-County Independent Living Center in North Canton August 5–9

In this Youth Leadership Forum 2024 video, hear from Joey, Daniel, Lariyah, and AJ—a few emerging leaders who were excited about their experiences at the forum and the cool things they learned.
