OOD's 2023-2024 Annual Report—Empowering Ohioans with Disabilities

A message from Director Kevin L. Miller Annual Report 2023-2024

Every day, OOD works toward making Ohio a Disability Inclusion State and a Model Employer of Individuals with Disabilities, as envisioned by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. Thanks to budget support from Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted, and the General Assembly, OOD is expanding its impact and helping more Ohioans with disabilities secure meaningful employment.

The OOD Annual Report for Federal Fiscal Year 2023 and State Fiscal Year 2024 highlights the many enhanced and ongoing services provided to Ohioans with disabilities.

Over the last year, OOD provided pre-employment transition services to 2,345 students, supported 1,799 students through Ohio College2Careers, and helped over 5,000 individuals find competitive employment. Accessible Ohio Specialists established partnerships with 94 businesses, communities, venues, and attractions and provided 136 consultations for partners to identify accessibility barriers, establish goals for accessibility, and share information about possible funding sources. Additionally, the Division of Disability Determination processed disability claims for over 151,000 Ohioans, surpassing the Social Security Administration’s workload goal by more than 10 percent.

While we celebrate success, we also know there’s more we can do to serve Ohioans with disabilities. We look forward to building on this momentum and making a lasting impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities across Ohio.

Thank you for your support. It is truly an honor to serve Ohioans with disabilities.
