Honoring Direct Support Professionals

 

 

Direct Support Professional (DSP) Recognition Week is September 8-14, 2024. These professionals tirelessly dedicate themselves to empowering individuals with disabilities on their journey toward independence and success. 

 

“We partner with approximately 300 providers across the state to help individuals with disabilities get and keep a job,” said OOD Director Kevin L. Miller. “These providers deliver vocational rehabilitation services, such as training, job development, and job coaching, specifically designed for individuals with disabilities to reach their career goals.”

 

The role of DSPs extends far beyond job support; they are vital partners in fostering independence and self-confidence. By providing personalized services and creatively navigating challenges, DSPs empower individuals with disabilities to thrive in their careers and make meaningful contributions to their workplaces. As we celebrate DSP Recognition Week, we acknowledge and appreciate these dedicated professionals' profound impact on the individuals with disabilities they serve.
