How Works4Me Supports Competitive Employment for People with Developmental Disabilities
With Governor DeWine’s support and a five-year federal grant awarded to OOD, Works4Me will help 1,450 individuals with disabilities move out of subminimum wage employment and into competitive integrated jobs. OOD is partnering with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD), county boards of developmental disabilities, and service providers, to offer a robust support network.
Works4Me Offers Enhanced Support Services
- Career development guidance
- New services to practice essential workplace skills
- Peer mentoring
- Help identifying assistive technology to prepare for and be successful at work
- Community-based job shadowing opportunities
- Work incentives planning
- Paid community-based experiences
- Comprehensive wraparound services
These services are designed to remove barriers for people with developmental disabilities who are currently employed at subminimum wage or considering such employment.
Early Success: Lott Industries
Lott Industries has become the first provider to offer Works4Me services. A video showcasing the program highlights how participants are being supported in community jobs and the positive impact on their lives.
